Veterans Among Us

Veterans Among Us

Join us for an inspiring afternoon that highlights the resilience, purpose, and contributions of our Island Veterans. Through their powerful stories, we’ll explore how the experiences of war and their dedication to community service have shaped their journeys toward healing and peace.

Six Island Veterans will share deeply personal and seldom-heard memories: Michael Colaneri, Kevin Devine, James Hagerty, and Jo Ann Murphy, along with Tom Bennett, Associate Executive Director of Martha’s Vineyard Community Services (MVCS) with nearly 55 years of service, and Bob Tankard, MVCS Veterans Outreach Coordinator and recipient of the 2024 Art Buchwald Award for Outstanding Community Service.

Each Veteran will reflect on their branch of service, their Military Occupational Specialty (MOS), impactful events from their time in uniform, and the life lessons they’ve carried forward. This is a unique opportunity to discover more about the lives and legacies of those who have served.

The MV Museum is proud to be a Blue Star Museum. With proper identification, active-duty military personnel, Veterans, and their families are welcome to visit the Museum free of charge.

Veterans and High School students: Free; MVM Members: $15; Non-Members: $25.
