Like Nowhere Else with Matt Pelikan

Like Nowhere Else with Matt Pelikan

Explore the rich natural history of Martha’s Vineyard with ecologist, naturalist, and MV Atlas for Living Program Director, Matt Pelikan. Matt will speak about the landscapes, plants, and animals of Martha’s Vineyard that have supported a vibrant Indigenous culture for millennia. In more recent times, the natural beauty and biological productivity of this Island have attracted and inspired generations of artists, authors, and scientists. The characteristics that make the Vineyard so famous are not just random: geology, geography, human history, and hemispheric patterns of migration and dispersal interact to make the Island what it is. Matt will explain the complex ecological interactions that have shaped the Vineyard into a hub for diverse species and a source of inspiration for many, making it a truly exceptional Island.
