Everett Poole | The ’38 Hurricane

In this clip from a 2009 interview, fish dealer and Chilmark Town Moderator Everett Poole (1930-2022) remembers the destructive 1938 hurricane that changed the landscape of Menemsha. He talks also about the dedication of Dutcher’s Dock, named for Rodney Dutcher, a journalist and social influencer of his time, who petitioned the Washington political engine to allocate funds to rebuild Menemsha after the storm.
