Introduction to MV History Lecture Series: Week 6 (1970s-2020s)

Introduction to MV History Lecture Series: Week 6

Join us on Thursdays in September and October for our Introduction to Martha’s Vineyard History Lecture Series. If you’ve ever wanted to dig deep into the story of this Island with the help of an expert guide, this six-week lecture series, taught by MVM Research Librarian Bow Van Riper, is the perfect place to begin.

The final week of the lecture series will focus on the 1970s to the present. A single-car accident on a remote country road, a blockbuster film, and an iconic black Labrador brought the Island into the nation’s — and the world’s — consciousness. Transient visitors, seasonal tourists, and year-round residents all arrived in unprecedented numbers, and Islanders began raising the questions that still challenge us today.

Preregistration encouraged.

MVM Members: $20; Non-Members: $25.
