Ticks on the Vineyard: What We Know

TICKS ON THE VINEYARD: WHAT WE KNOW

Ticks are now part of daily life on Martha’s Vineyard—but understanding how they got here, how they behave, and what actually reduces risk can feel overwhelming. This online lecture series brings together local experts in public health, medicine, epidemiology, and community prevention to share what we know about ticks on the Vineyard—and how that knowledge can help us live more confidently outdoors.

Across the series, speakers examine ticks from multiple perspectives: history and ecology, disease transmission and medical care, population trends and surveillance data, and community-based prevention efforts. Each program is designed to translate complex, evolving science into clear, practical information rooted in local experience.

This series is intended for residents, outdoor workers, families, healthcare providers, and anyone seeking trustworthy, Island-specific insight into tick-borne disease. The goal is not fear, but understanding—because informed awareness remains one of the most effective tools we have.

All programs are presented online and include time for audience questions.

Tuesdays, January 13 – February 10, 2026
5:00-6:00pm

Admission: $10 per participant; $50 for the entire series.
Registered attendees will receive a link to join by email before the program begins.
