Wampum: Stories from the Shells of Native America with Paula Peters – POSTPONED

Paula Peters, founder of the Native American creative agency SmokeSygnals, will discuss the history and cultural significance of Wampum in the Wampanoag community. Paula is an independent scholar and a politically, socially, and culturally active member of the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe. Through the talk she will explore the impact of colonization, the swift breakdown of peaceful relations between the Pilgrims and the Indigenous people and the inevitable war that would break out.
