TICK FREE MV: What the Aerial Deer Survey Reveals About Ticks

TICK FREE MV: What the Aerial Deer Survey Reveals About Ticks

Part IV of our “Ticks on the Vineyard: What We Know” Online Information Series

What do deer populations have to do with tick-borne disease? Quite a lot.

In this online program, Virginia Barbatti, Executive Director of Tick Free MV, presents findings from the Island’s recent aerial deer survey, conducted using thermal drone technology. This data offers new insight into deer populations—one of the primary reproductive hosts for ticks—and helps inform ongoing conversations about tick management.

Virginia will discuss what these findings reveal about tick distribution, disease risk, and the future of community-based prevention strategies on Martha’s Vineyard.
