The Stories We Have: Passover with Rabbi Caryn Broitman

The Stories We Have: Passover with Rabbi Caryn Broitman

At a community museum, telling the stories of our Island means exploring the lives and traditions of our neighbors — and Passover is one of those enduring and meaningful stories.

As Passover approaches, join Rabbi Caryn Broitman of the Martha’s Vineyard Hebrew Center for an illuminating conversation about one of Judaism’s most significant and widely observed holidays. Rooted in the ancient story of liberation and resilience, Passover is both a sacred ritual and a living tradition, rich with symbolism, storytelling, food, and family customs that have connected generations for thousands of years.

Rabbi Broitman will explore the history and evolution of Passover, unpacking the meaning behind the Seder, its rituals, and the timeless themes of freedom and responsibility. While the holiday may not be part of everyone’s personal tradition, its story is deeply human and universally resonant.

This welcoming program invites all to learn more about the cultural and spiritual practices of our Island neighbors, fostering understanding and connection across our community. Whether you are familiar with Passover or encountering it for the first time, this engaging history lesson offers insight, context, and a deeper appreciation for traditions celebrated right here on Martha’s Vineyard.

NEW: Join us at 4pm at First Light Cafe in our Linnemann Pavilion to purchase drinks, light bites, and mix with Museum staff and fellow attendees before the program!
