The KabuJazz Trio featuring Cândida Rose

The KabuJazz Trio featuring Cândida Rose

Cândida Rose is a celebrated Cape Verdean musician, vocalist, and educator whose work carries the deep musical traditions of her heritage alongside a lifelong commitment to cultural preservation and community connection.

For this performance, she will appear as the KabuJazz Trio featuring Cândida, joined by Santos Spencer on guitar and Jack Santos on percussion. Under the musical direction of Santos Spencer, the trio continues the evolving “KabuJazz” sound, where Cape Verdean musical traditions meet the language and improvisational spirit of American jazz. Santos Spencer brings a grounded, expressive musical vision that shapes the ensemble’s direction and harmonic depth, while Jack Santos adds dynamic rhythmic texture and drive, expanding the trio’s sound with subtle power and movement.

As part of the larger KabuJazz Ensemble, they have entertained audiences at events and festivals as far away as Alaska, as well as throughout Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and the greater New England region. In addition, along with Cândida Rose’s presentations of KabuMerikanus – The Sum of US: Exploring the Cabo Verde/United States Musical Connection and Legacy, the group has educated students at various New England schools through assemblies and cultural workshops.

General Admission: $20; Season Pass: $150
