Prayer Horse: Indigenous Leadership for Land, Culture, and Future Generations
Martha’s Vineyard Museum invites you to join us as we host Josh Dini, Founder and Executive Director of Prayer Horse, Inc.
An enrolled member of the Walker River Paiute Tribe, Dini will share the work of Prayer Horse, a Native-led organization dedicated to protecting Indigenous sacred lands, cultural traditions, and environmental health. Through stories from the Great Basin… including the effort to protect the sacred site of Peehee Mu’huh (Thacker Pass)… he will explore how Native communities are responding to the impacts of mining and other extractive industries while strengthening cultural identity, defending Indigenous sovereignty, and protecting the land for future generations.
Prayer Horse’s work brings together ceremony, education, youth engagement, and advocacy through initiatives such as its annual 200-mile Prayer Horse Ride from the Walker River Reservation to Peehee Mu’huh, creating opportunities for healing, cultural renewal, and environmental action.
This program will include a Wampanoag Tribal Elders welcome and Carole Vandal playing her flute.
MVM Members: $15; Non-Members: $25
Admission is complimentary for Tribal members.
