Opening Reception: The Two Worlds of Denys Wortman
Join us for an opening reception celebrating The Two Worlds of Denys Wortman on the eve of its public opening. Through original cartoons, paintings, photographs, objects, and archival materials, the exhibition explores the two places that shaped Wortman’s life and work: New York City and Martha’s Vineyard.
Best known for Metropolitan Movies, his daily newspaper cartoon chronicling the humor and frustrations of city life, Wortman created more than 8,000 cartoons over nearly thirty years. This reception offers a first look at the work of an artist whose observations of everyday life still feel remarkably familiar.
