Misfits of Avalon will kick off the Global Rhythms Summer Concert Series on July 1st with their driving Celtic sound shaped by traditional Irish influences and Island-rooted storytelling.
Led by longtime Martha’s Vineyard musician Brian Weiland, Misfits of Avalon draws deeply from traditional Irish and Celtic influences while bringing a fresh, spirited edge shaped by years of performing together on and off-Island. Known for tight musicianship, rich instrumentation, and an easy rapport with audiences, the band moves seamlessly between lively reels, heartfelt ballads, and modern interpretations of traditional tunes.
Rooted in the Vineyard’s enduring music community, Misfits of Avalon has long been a staple at local gatherings, celebrations, and performances, carrying forward a tradition of Celtic music that feels both authentic and alive in the present moment. Their sound reflects not only the heritage they honor, but the community they continue to be part of.
