Know Your Ticks: A Guide to Prevention and Peace of Mind

Know Your Ticks: A Guide to Prevention and Peace of Mind

Join us on Thursday, November 20th for an informative and practical evening with Patrick Roden-Reynolds, a biologist of the Inter-Island Public Health Excellence Collaborative, as we take a closer look at the ecology of ticks on Martha’s Vineyard and what we can do to stay safe.
In the first half of the program, Patrick will explore the fascinating and complex ecology of ticks—how they live, move, and interact with the island’s landscapes, wildlife, and climate. Learn how changing environmental conditions and local habitats influence tick populations and disease risk.
The second half will focus on prevention and protection—effective, evidence-based strategies for reducing tick exposure in your home, yard, and daily life. From personal protection to landscape management, Patrick will share practical tools to help you stay healthy and enjoy the outdoors with confidence.
This program is designed for anyone who spends time outside on Martha’s Vineyard—residents, gardeners, pet owners, and nature lovers alike.

MVM Members: $10; Non-Members: $20
