If the Cooke House Could Talk: Its Story and Scenes from Edgartown’s Maritime History with Matthew Stackpole
August 25 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm
The Thomas Cooke House was built in 1766 and has stood on its ground ever since. Historian Matthew Stackpole will present a series of vignettes from Edgartown’s bygone days, beginning with the Cooke House’s construction and continuing into maritime scenes that might have been seen from its windows as the town – and Island – grew and changed around it. Matthew is a Nantucket native who grew up on the grounds of Mystic Seaport, beginning a life spent on the sea and in nonprofit leadership. He is a former executive director of the Martha’s Vineyard Museum.
Takes place at the Cooke House & Legacy Gardens, rain or shine.
Preregistration is required and space is limited. MVM Members: $10; Non-Members: $15. To register, click here.
