Global Rhythms: Ehud Ettun

Global Rhythms: Ehud Ettun

Celebrate the vibrant cultures that shape our Island community through music and storytelling. Each week, world-class musicians take the stage to share not only their sound, but the personal and cultural stories behind it. Join us Wednesday evenings this summer for a series that moves to the beat of connection, tradition, and discovery.

THIS EVENING’S PERFORMANCE: Israeli bassist and composer Ehud Ettun is redefining the double bass as a melodic storytelling instrument. Ehud will be performing a mix of original jazz compositions and reinterpretations of Israeli music, with influences from the region. The music draws from Israeli, North African, and Eastern European roots, blending these influences with modern jazz improvisation. Throughout the show, he’ll share short stories about growing up in Jerusalem, his journey with music, and the musical heritage that shaped his sound. The performance aims to celebrate the shared emotional language of music across cultures. Ettun has performed at renowned venues such as New York’s Blue Note and Washington’s Kennedy Center. He has collaborated with jazz luminaries including Fred Hersch, Danilo Perez, and Anat Cohen. Ettun leads the Internal Compass Orchestra and the Internal Compass Summer Jazz Festival in Mitzpe Ramon, Israel, fostering musical innovation and community engagement.
