Friends in Ferment – An Evening of Beer + Cheese Pairings
Friends in Ferment – An Evening of Beer + Cheese Pairings
This program is sold out. We apologize for any inconvenience.
An evening like this is a rarity on Martha’s Vineyard—where tradition, taste, and history come together in one unforgettable experience. The Martha’s Vineyard Cheesery and the Museum invite you to savor the art of fermentation through four carefully curated pairings of craft beer and artisan cheese.
Each course highlights a unique story:
- Old: A bold IPA with the depth of a 3-year-aged Vermont cheddar
- New: A crisp pilsner alongside the delicate bloom of Shabby Shoe
- Funky: A bright, complex sour paired with Harbison, wrapped in spruce bark
- Blue: A rich stout or porter balancing the bite of Bayley Hazen or Red Rock
While your palate explores the spectrum of flavors—from sharp and timeless to earthy, funky, and bold—you’ll also discover the deep roots of dairying and brewing on the Island. These fermented foods, crafted with patience, microbes, and skill, have long shaped Vineyard life and community.
More than a tasting, this evening is a journey through Island history, a celebration of craft, and a reminder of how food connects us to the land and to one another. Come raise a glass, savor each bite, and experience the stories fermenting beneath the surface of Martha’s Vineyard.
Your guides will be Morgen Schroeder of Martha’s Vineyard Cheesery and MVM’s Research Librarian Bow Van Riper.
