Founding Foods: Seasonal Eating on Martha’s Vineyard During the Revolution

Founding Foods: Seasonal Eating on Martha’s Vineyard During the Revolution

Join us at the Cooke House & Legacy Gardens, 51 Cooke Street in Edgartown for a food experience from a bygone era. Historian Norah Van Riper will deliver a lively, interactive examination of how food production and procurement on the Island was influenced by the American Revolution. The War for Independence did more than just create a new nation, it disrupted life for everyone in the Thirteen Colonies, whether they were near a battlefield or not. Martha’s Vineyard was not immune to those disruptions. Patriotic period-appropriate nibbles included! Presented in historical costume from a modern perspective.
Please note: We regret that the historic Cooke House is not ADA-compliant and cannot accommodate mobility aids.
