Flowers, Family, and Figuring It Out: Emily Coulter Of Morrice Florist
Flowers, Family, and Figuring It Out: Emily Coulter Of Morrice Florist
Some businesses feel like they’ve always been part of the Island—and Morrice Florist is one of them. The story behind it, though, might surprise you.
Join MVYRADIO’s Polly Simpkins in conversation with Emily Coulter for an easygoing evening at the Martha’s Vineyard Museum. Emily didn’t come up through the floral world—“I had never worked with flowers,” she’ll tell you—but a family friend saw something in her and handed her the keys. What followed has been part leap of faith, part late-night Googling, part trial and error, and, as it turns out, a real instinct for beauty.
In just a few years, Emily has quietly reshaped the look and feel of this longtime Island shop, teaching herself as she goes and uncovering a creative language that feels, in hindsight, like it was there all along—all while raising a family and building a life on the Island.
This isn’t a how-to or a highlight reel. It’s a chance to hear how something takes root—a business, a rhythm, a sense of belonging.
Arrive early—join us at 4pm in the First Light Café for drinks & light bites.
