For more than 65 years, Capt. Buddy Vanderhoop has fished the waters around Martha’s Vineyard. A member of the Wampanoag Tribe of Aquinnah and owner of Tomahawk Fishing Charters, he brings generations of family knowledge, along with a lifetime of firsthand experience, to every story he tells.
As part of the Museum’s Legends of the Line series during the 81st Martha’s Vineyard Striped Bass & Bluefish Derby, Vanderhoop shares tales from a life on the water: big fish, charter days, Island characters, and the changes he has witnessed along the way. Join one of the Vineyard’s most respected fishermen and storytellers for an evening shaped by humor, memory, and a deep connection to the sea.
