Alpha-gal Syndrome on Martha’s Vineyard

Part III of our “Ticks on the Vineyard: What We Know” Online Information Series

Join us for a timely and reassuring talk on Alpha-gal Syndrome, an emerging tick-borne condition that has raised concern in our community. Clinician and educator Aubrey Stimola Ryan, MS, PA-C, offers clear, compassionate, and science-based information about what Alpha-gal is, how it develops, why it is becoming more common, and what is currently known about diagnosis, management, and day-to-day living with the condition.

With more than 17 years of emergency room experience—including care at Martha’s Vineyard Hospital and in New York City—Aubrey brings both deep clinical expertise and a strong understanding of local concerns. She has extensively researched and presented on tick-borne illnesses, including Alpha-gal Syndrome, for both clinical and community audiences, with a focus on practical guidance and reducing uncertainty through accurate information. Her background includes training in bioethics, global health, clinical tropical medicine, and travel medicine.

Designed especially for community members seeking clarity and trustworthy information, this talk provides space to learn, ask questions, and better understand a condition that is increasingly relevant to our region.

A Q&A will follow.
