Biography/Historical Note

Florence Salvadore Duarte (1905-1966) was the daughter of Antone and Mary Salvadore of Edgartown, Massachusetts. In 1924 she married Anthony Duarte (1900-1992), a carpenter. The couple lived most of their married life in Vineyard Haven. In 1935, Anthony and Florence Duarte had a daughter, Dona Clara Duarte.

Scope and Content Note

The collection consists of six scrapbooks. Duarte saved greeting cards and announcements of family events including births, graduations, weddings, and deaths. There are also mementos, saved from various trips, such as napkins, fliers, playbills, and postcards. In the 1960s Florence spent time in New York City and as a result there are Broadway playbills and ticket stubs from city sights. The scrapbook labeled 1963-1966 also includes postcards from 1907-1930.

Arrangement

The collection is arranged chronologically.
