Biography/Historical Note
Henry A. Pease was born on August 5, 1856, in Edgartown, Massachusetts, to Rodolphus Pease (1829-1899) and Abby Gridley (Stuart) Pease (1825-1908). He had one brother, Samuel Stuart Pease (1851-1884). On November 26, 1879, Henry married Elizabeth “Lizzie” Collins Fisher (1855-1939). He was a United States Postmaster, a banker, and a member of the Masons. Henry A. Pease died on February 9, 1935, in Edgartown, Massachusetts.
Scope and Content of Collection
This collection contains the papers of Henry A. Pease including bills and receipts, certificates, correspondence, a diploma, school workbooks, and other material. A few items in the collection belonged to Rodolphus Pease, Henry’s father, and are included in this collection because it is believed they were donated with the rest of Henry’s papers.
