Biography/Historical Note
Jesse Pease was born on July 8, 1787 to Zachariah Pease (1750-1845) and Lydia (Crowell) Pease (1748-1830). He was a Baptist Minister in Edgartown, Massachusetts. On March 27, 1815, Reverend Pease married Margaret "Peggy" Athearn (1785-). The couple had six children: Waitstill M. (1816-1889), Bartlett (1818-1819), William Watson (1820-1895), Love (1824-1891), Samuel Nelson (1826-1903), and Margaret (1828-1857). Reverend Jesse Pease died on June 20, 1857 in Tisbury, Massachusetts. He is buried in the West Tisbury Village Cemetery.
Scope and Content Note
The collection contains books with handwritten lists of marriages performed by Reverend Jesse Pease; marriage intentions; notes and notices of births, baptisms, marriages, and deaths; and receipts. Also included is a typed transcription done in 1992 of some of the documents in the collection.

The collection is arranged loosely alphabetically by folder title and therein chronologically. The material is housed in a box with other small collections.
